Helen Kathryn Dixon's Obituary
Helen Kathryn Dixon, age 88, of Moulton, Iowa died Monday June, 7, 2010 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. She was born the daughter of Jess and Sara (Hurt) Davis on May 15, 1922 in Rathbun, Iowa. Helen attended the Centerville Community Schools in Centerville, Iowa.On April 8, 1939 Helen married the love of her life, Hal Dixon in Centerville, Iowa. During their marriage they had two children; Joyce Kay Dixon, and Hal Joseph Dixon. Helen worked for the Moulton School district, Sylvania, and the Centerville Care Center. She also owned two businesses in Moulton, The Friendly Tavern and Dixon's Cafe. She enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, canning and quilting. Helen was a member of the Moulton Legion Auxiliary.She is preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Hal Dixon on August 12, 2009; daughter, Joyce Dixon; brothers, Joseph (Joe) Davis, Noah Davis, John Davis, and Wayne (Baldy) Davis; sisters, Cecilia (Sis) (Davis) Holiday, Betty (Davis) Hushour, Jessie (Davis) Ragona.Helen is survived by: son, Hal Joseph (Joe) Dixon of Moulton, Iowa; granddaughter, Joyce (Dixon) Cooper of Floris, Iowa; grandsons, Hal Joseph (Bud) Dixon Jr and Charles (Charlie) Dixon both of Moulton, Iowa; fifteen great grandchildren; and ten great great grandchildren.Graveside services will be held Thursday, June 10, 2010 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Jerry Weller officiating at the Sunset View Cemetery near Moulton, Iowa. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 9, 2010 from 1 pm till 8 pm with the family present from 6 pm till 8 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Moulton, Iowa.Memorials can be made to the family and mailed to or left at the funeral home.
