Hazel Rockhold's Obituary
Hazel (Shinn) Rockhold was born October 28, 1924, in Lineville, Iowa to Jesse and Eva Shinn. She grew up with three brothers who preceded her in death: Everett, Ralph and Earl. In 1946 she married Donald Rockhold. Their son Marvin was born in 1947 and in 1950 daughter Joyce joined the family. In addition to being a loving wife and mother, Hazel farmed hand in hand with Donald, was an active member of her church and a gracious hostess to all who entered her home. She will be remembered fondly by the many friends and family who were recipients of her special birthday cards, many of which included her signature balloon and stick of gum. Hazel died peacefully just after 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 26, 2019. In her last days she was surrounded by the love and laughter of her family and caring friends. Hazel will be missed but not forgotten. Her kind and giving spirit will live on through her loving family: her husband of seventy-three years, Donald; her son Marvin, married to Twylia; her daughter Joyce married to Don McGregor; her grandchildren Cheri Schmit (Mike) and Jonathan Rockhold (Kendra), children of Marvin and Twylia; grandchildren Corey McGregor (Heidi) and Jeff McGregor, children of Joyce and Don; great grandchildren Drew Schmit and Jake Schmit, children of Cheri and Mike Schmit; great grandchildren Kylee Rockhold and Kale Rockhold, children of Jonathan and Kendra Rockhold; great grandchildren Caleigh McGregor and Camryn McGregor, children of Corey and Heidi McGregor. Funeral service will be Friday, May 31, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon. Interment will immediately follow the service at Clio Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, May 30, 2019 with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon. Memorials may be given to Every Step Hospice.
