Hazel Marie Kent's Obituary
Hazel Marie Kent, age 82, of Centerville, Iowa, died Thursday, August 2, 2007 at Centerville Nursing & Rehab Center in Centerville, Iowa. She was born the daughter of Raymond John and Iva G. (Minks) Leonard on March 11, 1925 in Cincinnati, Iowa. She received her education in rural Appanoose county schools as well as Exline Community Schools.On September 20, 1942, Hazel was united in marriage to Frank Joseph Kent in Memphis, Missouri. The couple lived from 1947 till 2004 rural route Centerville on a small acreage. Hazel and Frank lived there until his death in 2002 and Hazel continued to live there until her health failed in 2004, when she became a resident of the Centerville Nursing & Rehab Center. She worked for a time at the Continental Hotel and McGraw Edison before working over 12 years as a Department Manager at Pamida all in Centerville. They loved to travel to all 50 states and Canada and were members of the Farm Bureau. She is preceded in death by: her parents, Iva Leonard on February 8, 1985 and then Raymond Leonard on August 29, 1990; husband, Frank Joseph Kent on March 28, 2002; brother, Emile D. Leonard on January 29, 1989; sisters, Geneva Hutchinson on August 24, 1984 and Patty Leonard on February 19, 1938; son-in-law, Gary Lynn Latham on May 4, 1981.Hazel is survived by: her daughters, Tisha Rochelle Shepard and her husband, Stephen and also, Greta Marie Tarbell and her husband, Darl all of Centerville, Iowa; brother, Charles R. Leonard of West Grove, Iowa; sister, Jennie Darlene Goetz of Savanna, Illinois; grandchildren, Rochelle Lyn Latham-Bozarth of Kirksville, Missouri, G.K. Chad Latham of Prairie City, Iowa and Amanda Lynn Tarbell of Centerville, Iowa; step-grandchildren, Shimene Ryan of Port Orange, Florida and Slade Shepard of Marysville, Tennessee; Great grandchild, Noah Latham of Praire City, Iowa; three step-great grandchildren, Jessica Charlson of Mason City, Iowa, Maria Sturm of Newton, Iowa and Christina Sturm of Praire City, Iowa; one step-great, great grandchild, Isabella Charlson of Mason City, Iowa; as well as many nieces and nephews.Graveside funeral services will be held on Monday, August 6, 2007 at 11 am at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Cincinnati, Iowa with Pastor Brian Hargrave officiating. Burial will follow in the cemetery.
