Hazel L. Ewing's Obituary
Hazel Ewing, age 91 of Centerville passed away Monday afternoon, April 13, 2009 at the Centerville Nursing and Rehab Center, Centerville.
Hazel was born July 23, 1917, the daughter of Harry and Amanda (Davis) McFarland in Sedan, Iowa. She married Claude ""Buster"" Mervin Ewing Jr. on January 16, 1941 in Unionville, Missouri. Hazel enjoyed her time working at the courthouse for fifteen years. She loved listening to old records, feeding the birds, gardening and spending time with her family. Hazel was a member of the Moulton Baptist Church.
Hazel is survived by four children, Grant (Donna) Ewing of Rio Rico, Arizona, Gerald Ewing of Seymour, Iowa, Greta (Jay) Smith of Blue Eye, Missouri, Gloria (Dale) Cowan of Cincinnati, Iowa; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; a sister, Alice Jarvis of Des Moines, Iowa; brother, Cecil McFarland, Longmont, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a brother, Roy McFarland; and a sister Edna Brandt.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Thursday, April 16, 2009 at the Lange Funeral Home with Pastor Joann Ervin officiating. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Cincinnati, Iowa. Visitation will be held Wednesday at the funeral home with the family present from 7-8 PM. A memorial has been established to Hospice of Central Iowa or Moulton Baptist Church and may be left at or mailed to the Lange Funeral Home 1900 S. 18th St. Centerville, Iowa 52544.
