Hazel Irene Demry-Parcel's Obituary
Hazel Irene Parcel age 84, of Centerville, Iowa, died Monday, May 3, 2010 at the Golden Age Care Center in Centerville, Iowa. She was born the daughter of Charles and Anna (Hutchinson) Donald on March 13, 1926 in Corydon, Iowa. Hazel attended Monroe High School in Rochester, New York.On February 6, 1943 she was united in marriage to Wayne T. Demry in Unionville, Missouri and they later divorced. Later she was united in marriage to Loyd Parcel on January 15, 1977 in Seymour, Iowa. Hazel worked in a grocery store in Corydon, Iowa and later was the owner and operator of Demry Beauty Shop and Demry Cafe both located in Seymour, Iowa. Hazel and her husband Loyd were site managers for the Army Corp of Engineers at several lakes including Lake Rathbun near Centerville, Iowa. Hazel was a member of the Drake Avenue Christian Church in Centerville, Iowa and also a member of DAR and the Hospital Auxiliary.She is preceded in death by: her parents; her second husband, Lloyd Parcel on January 19, 1989; son, Charles Demry on February 7, 1999; sisters, Mary Ellen Rhodes and Harriett Shultz.Hazel is survived by: a son; Tom and his wife, Janet Demry of Centerville, Iowa; daughters, Judy and her husband, Frank Tometich of Phoenix, Arizona, Barbara and her husband, Rick Alexander of Unionville, Iowa, and Jeanette and her husband, Gene Hornaday of Pollock, Missouri; 14 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Jerry Shultz of Joplin, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.Funeral Services will be held Friday, May 7, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Kenneth Mehrhoff officiating. Burial will follow in the Sharon Chapel Cemetery in Centerville, Iowa. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 6, 2010 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa from 1:00 PM till 8:00 PM with the family present from 6:00 PM till 8:00 PM.A memorial has been established to the 18/80 club and Sharon Chapel Cemetery and can be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
