Harry Edward Shatzer's Obituary
Harry Edward Shatzer, age 81, of Centerville, Iowa, died Monday, March 12, 2007 at Golden Age Care Center in Centerville. He was born the son of Harry O. and Mary Christine (Schnell) Shatzer on December 16, 1925 in Orin, Iowa. He graduated from Jesup Community Schools in Jesup, Iowa. He, in 1950 received his BA degree in Political Science from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.On November 25, 1951, Harry was united in marriage to Shirley Petersen in Clinton, Iowa. He worked as a credit manager for Pillsbury Feeds and then spent over 30 years working for Cargill Company with Nutrena Feeds as a District Manager and salesman. They moved to Centerville, Iowa in 1974 from Morton, Illinois. He was a member of the Appanoose County Country Club for many years and always enjoyed a great game of golf.He was preceded in death by: his parents; sisters, Florence Weatherman and Elva Kirk; brothers, Orval and Everett Shatzer.Harry is also survived by: his wife, Shirley Shatzer of Centerville, Iowa; daughters, Wanda Shatzer of Peoria, Illinois; Connie Henderson and her husband, Mike of Overland Park, Kansas, Sherri Frank and her husband, Weston of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; sons, Jeff Shatzer and his wife, Christy of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa and Randy Shatzer and his wife, Debbie of Lee's Summit, Missouri; ten grandchildren; brother, Robert Shatzer of Jesup, Iowa; sisters, Madeline Steinbron of Independence, Iowa and Eileen Mount of Jesup, Iowa.Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2007 at 2 pm at the First United Methodist Church in Centerville, Iowa with Rev's Charlie Snethen and Dianne Christopher officiating.
