Harry Allen Felton's Obituary
Harry Allen Felton, Jr., age 84, of Centerville, Iowa died Friday, February 6, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville, Iowa. He was born the son of Harry A. and Melissa (Smith) Felton, Sr. on May 4, 1919 near Divide, Wyoming. He graduated from the Albia Community Schools in 1938.On May 17, 1942, Harry was united in marriage to Hilda M. Whisler on May 17, 1942. He was a farmer near Udell and Moravia, Iowa. Harry was also a school bus driver and then began trucking for the Pillsbury Company which later became Nutrena Feeds, for over 20 years. He was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Albia. He was seriously injured in 1988 and had been in poor health since then. In 1990, Harry began doing wood working and also learned to embroider. He had embroidered quilts for each of his children and quilted wall hangings for the grandchildren. Harry really enjoyed embroidering and giving away his work.Harry was preceded in death by: his parents; sons, James Felton on July 25, 1988 and Gary Lee Felton in 1947; a sister in infancy; grandson, David Felton in 1968.Harry is survived by: his wife, Hilda M. Felton of Centerville, Iowa; sons, Jerry and his wife, Janice Felton of Unionville, Iowa, Larry and his wife, Marla Felton of Chillicothe, Missouri, Steven and his wife, Linda Felton of Grapevine, Texas; daughter, Jeanne and her husband, Joe Pahl of Jordan, Minnesota; sister, Helen Callen of Ottumwa, Iowa; Brothers, Robert Felton of Bozeman, Montana and Lloyd Felton of Cheyenne, Wyoming; 16 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 1 step great grandchild.Funeral services are set for Monday, February 9, 2004 at 10:30 am at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Albia with Pastors Tim Stoller and Fred Schauer officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery near Moravia, Iowa.
