Harriet L. Tresemer's Obituary
Harriet Tresemer
Harriet Lucille Tresemer was born on October 22, 1931 and passed away on July 17, 2010 after a spirited fight against cancer. She was a resident of Red Oak, Iowa, but lived with her daughter, Randie Kunkle and family in Council Bluffs, Iowa, at the time of her death.
Harriet was born in Cambridge, Iowa, to Milford and Wilma Severeid Lewis. Harriet graduated from high school in Hubbard and married Carl Larson on May 19, 1951. He died in a motor vehicle accident on December 13, 1960. She married Donald William Tresemer on January 28, 1962, and they raised their five children in Iowa Falls.
Harriet loved her family unconditionally and without limits. She tirelessly cared for her family and thoroughly enjoyed cooking, sewing, and crocheting for them. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren gave her a great sense of pride and joy. Her infectious laugh could be heard throughout the house during family gatherings. She was passionate about college football and was very prejudiced toward the Nebraska Cornhuskers. She was proud of her work at Boeing Aircraft while living in Texas and at CDS while living in Red Oak. She retired from CDS in 2002 at the age of 71 years. She was a woman of deep faith and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Red Oak and active in church ministries.
She is survived by her husband Don of Council Bluffs, and her children: Ray and Patty Tresemer of Centerville, Roxane and Gary Rolph of Steamboat Rock, Rowene Barber and Ed Eischen of Eldora, and Randie and Jim Kunkle of Council Bluffs. Her grandchildren are Megan Tresemer Phillips, Tom Tresemer, Kasey and Korey Rullestad, Ryan Rolph, Katie Rolph Drum, Brandon Barber, Charles Barber, Jessica Barber Peters, and Jennifer, Samantha, and James Kunkle, Jr. Great-grandchildren are Lauren and Lucas Phillips; Palmer, Gracie, and Lily Drum; Rhonda Rullestad; Chance and Legend Rolph, Tyler and Bea Barber, and Joey and Becca Barber. Also left to cherish her memory are her sisters Elaine Snyder, Marilyn Rackley, Betty Butt, and Shirley Caslavka; and her brother Orlin Lewis. In death she is united with her parents Milford and Wilma Lewis and daughter Rhonda (Steve) Rullestad, and son-in-law Michael Barber.
A service celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, July 22, 2010, at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church in Red Oak. Visitation with family will be at the church one hour before the service. Cremains will be interned at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be directed to Hospice of Southwest Iowa or First United Methodist Church in Red Oak and may be mailed to the Lange Funeral Home, 1900 South 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544. Condolences may be left at www.langefh.com
