Harriet Grim's Obituary
Harriet Grim, age 74 of Lamoni, Iowa, formerly of Seymour, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Decatur County Hospital in Leon, Iowa Harriet Rose Grim was born December 2, 1938 in Urbandale Iowa to Jack and Twila Gabriel and left this life to be joined with loved ones that went on before her on February 27, 2013 at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon Iowa. Hattie was a mother, daughter, grandmother and friend. Hattie was a secretary in Des Moines Iowa and drove circle 8 races, her father taught her mechanics and she enjoyed the challenge, shortly after marrying her husband Bert Grim, they moved to Van Wert Iowa and started a gas station with garage called B&H oil, they also ran a mobile library, helped with renovations on the rodeo arena in Van Wert, trying to help in the community. In 1984 Hattie opened the ""Mission House"" in Leon Iowa, there she offered sewing classes, clothing, other essentials, and hot coffee, pool tables and a place for all to gather and enjoy. After the passing of the love of her life in 1986 she raised her children, and moved around, at one point she found herself in Princeton as head cook at the care center, continuing on life took her to many places. She was a lover of crafts and decorating, you didn't often see her without something in her hands being designed. She loved the small things in life, a good hot cup of coffee, Christmas lights, a western movie, music, chatting with friends, sharing a meal, sitting by a lake reading and garage sales were a passion. She believed life was for living.
Hattie was preceded in death by her parents and husband Bert Grim.
She is survived by her children, Jackie (Mark) Hausman of Des Moines Iowa, June(Jerry) Kuster of Davis city Iowa, Mikeal(Stephanie)Grim of Lineville, Iowa, and Rosa(Kelly)McClellan of Decatur City, Iowa. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She will be missed but her memory will not be forgotten. May God Bless her and hold her in His arms.
