Harold L. Mason's Obituary
Harold L. Mason, age 97, of Moravia, Iowa, died Thursday, November 19, 2009 at the Monroe County Care Center. He was born the son of Allen and Alice (Reynolds) Mason on March 5, 1912 in Albia, Iowa. He graduated from the Moravia Community Schools.On June 18, 1935 he was united in marriage to Lois Davis in Columbia, Missouri. He has farmed in northwest Moravia all of his life. Harold was a member of the Farm Bureau and was the president from 1945-1946, He was on the FHA committee in Monroe County, and also a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge Entiquity # 252. He was a memeber of the Salem United Brethren Church and later attended the Trinity United Methodist Church in Albia, Iowa. He is preceded in death by: his parents, and a brother, Allen G. Mason Jr.Harold is survived by: his wife, Lois Mason of Moravia, Iowa; son, Richard and his wife, Colette Mason of Ottumwa, Iowa; grandchildren, Mary and her husband, Scott Robison of Pella, Iowa, Michael and his wife, Melanie Mason of Oskaloosa, Iowa, and Blaik and his wife, Amy Mason of Oskaloosa, Iowa; 8 great grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 9 step great grandchildren, and 3 step great-great grandchildren.Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 23, 2009 at 1:00 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with the Rev. Neal Montz officiating. Burial will follow at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Moravia, Iowa. Open visitation will be held on Sunday, November 22, 2009 from 2:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa. The family will be present one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to either Hospice of Monroe County or Trinity United Methodist Church in Albia and may be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
