Harold W. Malin's Obituary
Harold Malin, age 64, died July 1, 2007 at his home in Exline, Iowa.
Harold was born August 1, 1942 the son of Roy and Edna (Bartsch) Malin in Centerville, Iowa. Harold was a graduate of Centerville High School class of 1959, Centerville Community College class of 1962, he was in the US Army stationed in Germany, graduated as a Firearms Instructor Class of 1978, Iowa Law Enforcement Academy classes Basic Class 57 in 1979, 6th Semi Auto Firearms Instructor Class in 1990 and FBI Photography School in 1983. He was also a certified scuba diver. He received the Governor's Volunteer Award in April 1992. Harold hobbies included hunting, fishing, target and sports shooting, scuba diving, working on and restoring classic cars, shooting prairie dogs, rifles, handguns and bow and arrows. He was a former member of the Elks Club, National Rifle Association Golden Eagles, Appanoose County Shooting Club, National Wild Turkey Federation, Iowa State Police Association, Iowa State Chief of Police Association and treasurer of the Centerville Police Association.
Harold is survived by two brothers, Jerry (Wilda) Malin of Ottumwa, Iowa, and Fred (Vicky) Malin of Des Moines, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held 1 PM Thursday, July 5, 2007 at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, Centerville with Rev. Glass officiating. Burial of cremains will follow at the Eaton Cemetery in Unionville, Iowa. A memorial has been established to the V.F.W. and may be left at or mailed to the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa 52544.
