Harold Davis' Obituary
Harold Anthony Davis, age 56, of Centerville, passed away Friday, December 29, 2023 at Wayne County Hospital in Corydon.
Harold was born on February 7, 1967 in Centerville, Iowa, the son of Carl Mac and Barbara (Caraccio) Davis. He graduated with the Class of 1985. In 1986, Harold enlisted in the United States Army.
On August 31, 2013, Harold married his soulmate, Kelly I. Burkitt. To this union, he gained a bonus child, Leila. His whole heart and world revolved around Kelly and Leila.
Harold worked as a business man. He owned Club 34, C&D Bar and a construction company with his father. He also worked for Baker Electric and most recently, Johnson's Concrete. The job he loved most was being a "Papa-Bear" to Leila and being "Uncle Bear" to all his nieces and nephews.
Harold was baptized in October of 2018 at the Grace Tabernacle Baptist Church in Centerville. In his free time, he enjoyed reading and studying time with the Bible and Pastor Adam Standley. He was also fond of cooking, especially smoking meat, making his mom's Lasagna and spaghetti, teaching his skills to his family, going fishing, playing chess, shooting pool, trivia, collecting numerous items including knives, swords, Avon red dishes, and bear and duck items. He was always enthusiastic to watch the Kansas City Chiefs and the Iowa State Cyclones play. His most favorite hobby was making people laugh with his stories and jokes.
Left to honor Harold's memory are his wife, Kelly Davis; his daughter, Leila Davis; his dogs, Link and Reese; his turtle, Shelly; his siblings, Theresa (Doug) Summers, Joe (Tabi) Davis, Melissa (Kurt) Evans, Renee Lancaster, Larry (Jenny) Katter, and Neil Katter; his aunts, Patty Davis, Peggy Aiello, Anna Beth (Earl) Taylor, Karen Caraccio, Vickie Caraccio, Shirley Fry, and Gloria Denny; as well as several extended family members including nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends that were his extended brothers.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Mac and Barbara Davis; his mother-in-law, Joyce Tuszynski; his sister, Beverly Brown; his uncles, Frank Caraccio, Larry (Doc) Davis, Jim Caraccio, Jim Aiello, Larry Garr and Jack Fry; his aunts, Lucy Katter, Jenny Garr and Beverly Caraccio; his grandparents, Tony and Ann "Nanny" Caraccio and Harold and Velma Irene Davis; his best friend, Lexi; as well as several good friends and extended family members.
Per wishes, cremation has been accorded. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00PM, Saturday, January 6, 2023 at the Grace Tabernacle Church, 914 North Park Avenue, Centerville, Iowa. A gathering will be held following the service at the Eagles, 1101 South 18th Street, Centerville, with the family greeting friends beginning at 3:30PM. All his friends and family are welcome to come join.
