Harold Aldridge's Obituary
Harold Lee Aldridge, age 69 of Mystic, Iowa passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.
He was born May 10, 1944 in Kirksville, Missouri, the son of Anna Caswell. Harold was raised in Lancaster, Missouri. On May 19, 1961 Harold enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. He served his country in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in February of 1963. Harold married Joan ""Carol"" Garr on June 16, 1963 in Lancaster, Missouri. Carol preceded him in death in 2004.
Harold worked as an operating engineer in the construction field throughout his life. He also worked as a steamfitter and was in truck driving.
His passion was raising and taking care of his horses. Harold also enjoyed the outdoors, especially time spent fishing. Another favorite pastime was flying and restoring planes. He was a member of the Kingdom of Jehovah's Witnesses in Centerville. Harold was also a past member of the Mystic American Legion.
Harold is survived by his five children, Richard (Cheryle) Aldridge of Centerville, Jeff Aldridge of Des Moines, Jason (Susan) Aldridge of Bussey, Jeremy (Janis) Aldridge of Lovilia, and Sarah (James) Conn of Centerville; sixteen grandchildren; and five great grandchildren; and a brother, Donald (Debbie) McCormick of Greentop, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his mother; two infant children, Alfred and Joseph Aldridge; and a brother, Richard McCormick. Graveside services with military rites will be held at 1:45 PM, Thursday, November 14, 2013 at the Hilltown Cemetery, southeast of Exline, Iowa with Pastor Mark Waits officiating. A visitation will be held on Thursday at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville from 11 AM-1 PM. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution has been established to the family of Harold Aldridge and may be given to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
