Hal Dixon's Obituary
Hal Dixon, age 90, of Moulton, Iowa passed away August 12, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville, Iowa. He was born the son of Flossie (McCoy) (Wendland) and Glen Roscoe Dixon on February 13, 1919 in Dean, Iowa. Hal attended Moulton Schools. On April 8, 1939 Hal married the love of his life, Helen Davis. During their marriage they had two children; Joyce Kay Dixon, and Hal Joseph Dixon. Hal was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII. He worked at the shipyards in California, John Morrell in Ottumwa and the Street Car Barns. But his passion was farming which he did for the majority of his life. Hal also enjoyed camping, fishing, and talking on his C.B. Some may remember him by his C.B. handle as 'Camper', and sometimes as early as 4 a.m. you could hear him chattering on the C.B. They usually had nothing extremely important to say but the talking went on for hours. He loved to fly. In the early 70's he purchased a small plane which he enjoyed flying. Hal had been a 50 year member of the American Legion Post 280 of Moulton, NFO (National Farmers Organization) and the Moulton Lions Club.Hal is preceded in death by; his parents; daughter, Joyce Kay Dixon; two brothers, Charles and Paul Dixon, and a daughter in law; Ellar Dixon.He is survived by; his wife, Helen Dixon of The Golden Age Care Center in Centerville, Iowa, son; Hal Joseph (Joe) Dixon Sr. of Moulton, Iowa; one grand daughter Joyce (Dixon) Cooper of Marengo, Iowa; two grandson; Charles (Charlie) and Hal Joseph (Bud) Dixon Jr. of Moulton, Iowa; fifteen great grandchildren; and nine great great grand children.Funeral Services will he held on Saturday, August, 15, 2009 at 2:00 p.m., at the To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Hal Dixon please visit our Sympathy Store.
