Grace Ruth Richardson Scott's Obituary
Grace Ruth (Lowe) Richardson Scott, age 96 of Centerville, Iowa, formerly of Cincinnati, Iowa, passed away Friday, October 14, 2016 at Centerville Specialty Care in Centerville.
She was born in Brazil, Iowa on May 6, 1920, the daughter of Edwin and Emma (Allison) Lowe. Grace attended Carr Country School as a child and was a 1938 graduate of Cincinnati High School.
Grace was united in marriage to John Richardson on June 4, 1939 in Unionville, Missouri and to this union of marriage, two children were born, Margaret and Jean. John passed away in 1964. Grace later married Alva Scott on August 23, 1968 in Rock Island, Illinois. Alva preceded her in death.
Grace and her husband John owned/operated the Sinclair Station in Cincinnati for many years. She later worked at McGraw-Edison in Centerville for several years.
She loved spending time outdoors, especially tending to her garden, as well as mowing her lawn. Grace cherished spending time with both her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Centerville.
Grace is survived by her two children, Margaret (Keith) Crouse of Lake Thunderhead, Missouri and Jean (Jerry) Garretson of Centerville, Iowa; three grandchildren, Becky (Daniel) Farkas of Cleveland, Ohio, Mike (Sandra) Crouse of Itasca, Illinois, and Kent (Jennifer) Garretson of Andover, Kansas; nine great grandchildren, Joshua Farkas, Haley Farkas, John Peter Crouse, Mark Crouse, Michael Crouse, Chelsea (Virgil Shondel) Garretson, Clay Garretson, Samuel Garretson, and Julianna Garretson; a granddaughter-in-law, Rochelle Garretson of Bloomfield, Iowa; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; a grandson, Mark Garretson; and five brothers, Claude Lowe, Floyd Lowe, Harold Lowe, Charles Lowe, and James Lowe.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Pastor Kay Singley officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Cincinnati, Iowa. A visitation will take place on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Lange Funeral Home in Centerville with the family greeting friends from 6-8 PM.
