Gloria Ann Searby's Obituary
Gloria Ann (Kyner) Searby was born on February 17, 1957 to Kenneth and Virginia (McKeeman) Kyner in Leon, Iowa. Gloria passed away on November 25, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines surrounded by her family. Gloria went to school at Mormon Trail in Humeston, Iowa. During high school Gloria participated in activities including cheerleading. She also worked as a lifeguard and enjoyed spending time with her friends. In 1977 she met her husband, Randy Searby. They were married on June 2, 1978. Together they were blessed with three children: Jamie Ann, Travis Dee (stillborn) and Lindsey DeeAnn. Gloria loved her family fiercely and was the glue to her family. She supported her husband while he built his business and worked to give her children as many opportunities as possible. She spent as much time as possible with her family. She enjoyed taking the girls fishing when they were young, looked forward to camping at the state fair with her family and attending activities and events that her girls were involved in. After graduating from high school, Gloria worked at Principal Financial in Des Moines before meeting her husband. She then worked many years at the Corydon Medical Clinic for Dr. Garber. She later worked at Shivvers in the purchasing department. She moved on and worked for approximately 14 years as a Customer Service Representative at Alliant Energy. After retiring from Alliant in 2013 she began working at the Wayne County Hospital in the Insurance/Billing Department. Gloria was greatly respected and beloved by her co-workers. Gloria loved spending time with her family and reconnecting with old friends. She discovered a love of cruises after going on a cruise a few years ago and always hoped to go on another one. She looked forward to trips to Denver to visit her daughter and grandson. She loved having fresh flowers, which matched her cheery nature as she always had a smile and kind words for everyone. Gloria was preceded in death by her infant son, Travis; nephew, Marcus Kyner; mother-in-law, Margaret Aline Searby and brother-in-law, Jerry Morgan. Gloria is survived by her husband, Randy; daughters: Jamie (Roger Hoebelheinrich) and Lindsey Searby; grandson, Devin Hoebelheinrich; sisters: Donna Morgan and Janice (Ray) Coffey; brothers: Nile Kyner and Daryl Kyner; parents: Kenneth and Virginia Kyner; father-in-law, Earl Searby; brothers-in-law: Charles Searby and Tom (Abby) Searby; sisters-in-law: Charlotte Searby, Kim (Kenny) Anderson, Pam Searby, and Donna (David) Alberhasky; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 30, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon, Iowa. Interment will be at later date.
