Gloria Lou Becker's Obituary
On Friday, July 19, 2024, Gloria Lou (Hartman) Becker, a devoted follower of Jesus, passed into the loving embrace of the Lord. Gloria's dedication to reflecting the love of Jesus shined through in her relationships, especially withher family.
Gloria was born on July 15, 1929, to Floyd L. and Zola B. Hartman, joining her older sister, Bonita on a farm in rural Palo Alto County near the area of Mallard/West Bend, IA. In 1934, the Hartman family moved to Wayne County, and Gloria graduated high school from Corydon High School in 1947. Gloria went on to attend Drake University to obtain her teaching certification and taught atLiberty Center Rural School for four years.
On July 6, 1948, Gloria was united in marriage to Oren E. Becker. To this union they had two children; Connie (Becker) Cox in 1950 and Ronnie E. Becker in 1951.
Gloria was a hardworking farmer's wife who also went to work for the John H. Rider Abstract Office and the Verle Norris Abstract Office and remained for 39 years. In addition to work and family, Gloria loved to garden an assortment of plants and enjoyed her flowers. She also loved receiving flowers from her kids and grandkids on different occasions.
In passing, Gloria joins her husband Oren, parents Floyd and Zola, sister Bonita, son-in-law Bobby Cox, 3 nephews, and 2 nieces. Left to grieve this loss include, children Connie Cox, and Ron (Denise) Becker; Grandsons Justin (Carissa) Cox,Christopher (Rachael) Cox, Donnie (Laura) Becker, Michael (Nicole) Becker, and Matthew (Amy) Becker; great-grandchildren: Caden, Jordyn, and Carly Cox, Pearl, and Jack Becker, and Alyvia, Josey, Tate, and Jack, along with many nieces and nephews and their children.
As loved ones mourn her passing, they find solace in the words of Psalm 19:14 that Gloria held dear to her heart: "Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer" Her legacy lives on through the love she shared with those around her.
A Funeral service was held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon. Interment followed at Corydon Cemetery.
