Glen Hawkins' Obituary
Glen Edward Hawkins, 76, of Cincinnati, Iowa passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2004 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville. Glen was born August 3, 1927 in Mendota, Missouri, the son of Dewey and Victoria (Vonevich) Hawkins. He was united in marriage to Colleen Casteel on August 20, 1948 in Centerville, Iowa. Glen owned and operated Hawkins Trucking with his son Carl for many years, they farmed together as well. He was a loving husband, dad, grandpa and great grandpa, always putting his family first. He loved watching his grandchildren in all of their sporting events and 4-H cattle shows. Glen was a good neighbor and friend always willing to lend a helping hand. Glen was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville. He attended Mendota and Cincinnati Schools graduating from Cincinnati High School in 1945. He is survived by his loving wife Colleen; daughter Vicky Lawson and her husband Dennis of Cincinnati; a son Dewey Carl Hawkins and wife Barbara of Cincinnati; 7 grandchildren, Gregg Lawson and his wife Tiffany, Scott Hawkins and his wife Courtney, Brian Lawson and his wife Erin, Stephen Hawkins and his wife Melanie, Carla Underwood and her husband Jim, Jeff Lawson and Joe Hawkins; 14 great grandchildren, Zack, Brendyn, Jakob, Brady, Hannah, Pacey and Avery Hawkins; Skyler, Taylor, Kolby, Brody and Prestyn Lawson; Colton Belloma and Caden Underwood; a sister Patty Boland of Unionville, Missouri and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and a sister Glenna. Mass of the Resurrection will be held Saturday, February 14, 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville with Father Joe Miller C.PP.S officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Cincinnati. Visitation will be held Friday, February 13, at Thomas Lange Funeral Home with the family present from 6-8 p.m. with scripture service at 8:00 p.m.. A memorial has been established to St. Mary's Catholic Church or Cincinnati First Responders which can be left at or mailed to Thomas Lange Funeral Home 1900 South 18th Street Centerville, Iowa.
