Glen "Gabby" Buckworth's Obituary
Glen "Gabby" Buckworth, 67, of Bettendorf, passed away on February 1, 2021 at his residence. Gabby was born on October 31, 1953 in Moline, Illinois to Purn and Lois (Watson) Buckworth. After graduating from Bettendorf High School in 1973, Gabby married his wife and best friend, Leesa McVey and to this union, two children were born. Gabby was a truck driver for several years. He was a longtime, dedicated employee for Dohrn Transfer and also spent many years as an over the road driver. Gabby had many hobbies. He was an avid follower of the races and loved to attend dirt races all over the country with friends and enjoyed helping his friend, Gary Webb race his late model. Gabby also enjoyed spending time with his son and the friends he made at the go-cart tracks in Iowa and Illinois (where he could often be found having one of his infamous B.S. sessions with a Miller Lite and mixed drink in hand in the pit or the garage after the races.) Gabby thoroughly loved the time he spent in Wayne County and all of the friends and memories he made there. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, his beloved beagle, Butch and especially being a doting and attentive grandpa. Gabby is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Leesa; daughter, Leslee; son, Gary (Tiffany); grandchildren: Landon and Whitley and his sister, Donna "Susie" (Joe) Sundholm. He was preceded in death by his parents and his uncle, John Watson of Powersville, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, February 5, 2021 at Thomas Funeral Home in Seymour. Interment will immediately follow at Confidence Cemetery. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service from 11:00-12:00. Per Gabby's request, please dress casually as anyone that knew him knew that formal attire was not for him!
