Gladys "Olive" Heartley's Obituary
Gladys 'Olive' Heartley, age 88, of Centerville, Iowa, died Friday, November 13, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center's Long Term Care in Centerville. She was born the daughter of Lawrence Harold and Mary Elizabeth (Morrison) Heartley on November 30, 1926 near Floris, Iowa. She would compete her education in the Moravia Community High School in 1943, then attended college in Illinois and later at Cal Tech in Pasadena, California where she graduated with her degree,.Olive worked for many years a Cal Tech in Pasadena as a Lab Technician. After retiring, she returned to Centerville, Iowa in 2004 where she was involved in the Church of the Nazarene in Centerville.She was preceded in death by: her parents; and her brother, Harold Leonard Heartley; and a great nephew, Joseph Heartley.Olive is survived by: her nephews, Eugene Heartley and his wife, Vicki of Moulton, Iowa, Rick Heartley and Steve Heartley and his wife, Karen all of Centerville, Iowa; nieces, Kathy Davenport and her husband, Roger and Rebecca Babb and her husband, Jerry all of Centerville, Iowa; and a sister-in-law, Lois Heartley of Centerville, IowaFuneral services will be held at 10am on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Walter King officiating. Burial will follow in the Eaton Cemetery west of Unionville, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 from 2 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home with the with the family present from 5 pm till 7 pm. Memorials can be made to the Church of the Nazarene and left or mailed to the funeral home.
