Gertrude Marian Longley's Obituary
Gertrude Marian Longley, 88 of Centerville, passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at Mercy One Hospital in Centerville, Iowa.
Gertrude was born to John & Mary Mildred (Ellis) Findley on May 29, 1933 in Centerville, Iowa. Gertrude worked as a caretaker in an adult group home. She married the love of her life, Kenneth Longley, on October 15, 1949 and to this union, 4 children were born: Linda, Kathy, Wayne and William.
Gertrude loved to spend her time camping, and traveling. She enjoyed visiting her grandchildren. You could often find her listening to music. For most of her life she was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Gertrude is survived by her children, Linda McDanolds, Kathy Hall (Ron), Wayne Longley (Janet) and William Longley, grandchildren, Catina Tomei (Craig), Joey McDanolds (Jessie), Melissa Belloma (Jeremy), Randy McDanolds (Jamie), Jason Logan (Lori), Kevin Logan (Gloria) Rebecca Mathisen (Brian), Joel Hanes (Alex) and Jamie Hanes (Emily), 31 Great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren and her sister, Mary Allen (Chuck). She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Longley and her sister, Phyllis McElderry.
Funeral service for Gertrude will be held at First Baptist Church in Centerville on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 1:30 PM with Pat Amsden officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM at First Baptist Church in Centerville. Memorials in Gertrude's honor may be given to the First Baptist Church and condolences can be shared at www.thomasfh.com or facebook.com/thomasfuneralhome.
