Geraldine Walker's Obituary
Geraldine (Avanelle) Walker, age 90 formally of Seymour, died Thursday, January 18, 2007 at the Donnellson Care Center, Donnellson, Iowa.
Avanelle was born August 7, 1916, the daughter of Carl and Maude (Birk) Kirk in Mystic, Iowa. Avanelle married Dallas Franklin Walker on August 13, 1933 in Unionville, Missouri. She and her husband farmed north of Mystic for over thirty-three years and later moved to Wayne County. She enjoyed crocheting and quilting and loved to cook and spend time with family and friends. She was a member of the Highland Cemetery Association in Mystic, Iowa, and was active in Walnut City and Mystic Christian churches.
Avanelle is survived by her husband; Dallas Walker, two daughters; Sharon (Duane) Scott of Fort Madison, Iowa, and Sandra Wright of Seymour, Iowa, seven grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Avanelle was preceded in death by her parents; Carl and Maude Kirk, a son; Dallas (Mickey) Walker, a son-in-law; Stuart Wright, and siblings; Thelma Shannon, Nevada Rampleburg, Alma Clark, Rosetta Hamilton, and Leo Kirk.
Funeral services will be held 10 AM, Monday, January 22, 2007 at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, Centerville, Iowa with David Clark officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery in Mystic, IA. A visitation will be held 6-8 PM, Sunday, January 21, 2007 at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to the Highland Cemetery or the Seymour First Responders and may be left at or mailed to the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, IA 52544.
