Gerald "Paul" Houser's Obituary
Gerald 'Paul' Houser, age 74 of Moulton, Iowa, died Sunday, December 16, 2007 at his home near Moulton. He was born the son of Esthel and Elsie Blanche (Matherly) Houser on December 24, 1932 near Moulton. He graduated from the Centerville Community Schools in 1951.Paul served his country during the Korean Conflict with the US Army from May 4, 1953 until his honorable discharge on May 4, 1955. On September 18, 1955, Paul was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Armstrong in Centerville, Iowa. In 1955, He purchased Centerville Produce on State Street in Centerville and later would move the business to south 18th Street in 1966 and work along side his wife of 53 years. He was a member of the Mt. Ararat Baptist Church and was the long time sexton of the Mt. Ararat Cemetery both east of Centerville. He was also a member of the Elk's Lodge in Centerville.He is preceded in death by: his parents; sister, Opal Van Doren; brothers, Billy Houser, Donald Houser and Bob Houser; and son-in-law, Joe W. Stickler.Paul is survived by: his wife, Mary Ellen Houser of Moulton, Iowa; daughter, Paula Sue Stickler of Centerville, Iowa; son, Barry and his wife, Dayna Houser of Blue Grass, Iowa; grandchildren, Ryan R. Stober and his wife, Veronica of Centerville, Iowa; Bruce M. Stober of West Des Moines, Iowa; Cory B. Houser, Collin M. Houser and Christofer M. Houser all of Blue Grass, Iowa and Kari Jo Stickler of Ames, Iowa; great grandchildren, Ian Paul Stober, Ava Marie Stober and Oliver Zane Stober all of Centerville, Iowa; sisters, Ruby Houser and June Duley both of Moulton, Iowa.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at 10 am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with Steve Houser officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt Ararat Cemetery east of Centerville.
