Gerald Keith Brockus' Obituary
Gerald Keith Brockus, age 59, of Moulton, Iowa, died Thursday, October 29, 2015 at his home near Moulton, Iowa. He was born the son of Gerald B. and Cleda Vesta (Vanderpool) Brockus on November 23, 1955 in Centerville, Iowa. He graduated from the Moulton-Udell High School in 1974, and later from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa in May 1978.Gerald enter the United States Army in May of 1978 and served his country until his honorable discharge on May of 1992. He worked for over 10 years at Wells Manufacturing in Centerville, Iowa before returning to the Iowa National Guard where he retired on January 31, 2012. Family was extremely important to Keith. To friends and family, he was a very good friend and willing to do whatever was necessary to help you. He didn't care much about material possessions, focusing his energy on soil conservation and family history. He was an avid reader and self educator. His hobbies were keeping fluent in Korean and up to date on world events. He was preceded in death by: his parents.Gerald is survived by: his brother, Frank Brockus of Moulton, Iowa; sisters, Betty Smith and her husband, Steve of Sanger, Texas, Rachel Miller and her husband, Gary of Lake Wylie, South Carolina and Deborah Zugg and her husband, Stan of Mystic, Iowa; Eleven nieces and nephews; and nine great nieces and nephews.A Celebration of Gerald's life will be held at 3 pm, Saturday, November 7, 2015 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Moulton, Iowa with Stan Zugg officiating. Burial of ashes will be held at a later date at the Sunset View Cemetery north of Moulton, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 2 pm until the time of services at the funeral home with the family present.Memorials can be made to either Garrett Memorial Library or to Moulton First Responder and can be left or mailed to the funeral home.
