Georgia Earlene McElroy's Obituary
Georgia Earlene McElroy, 88, of Centerville, Iowa, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 5, 2026, at MercyOne Medical Center in Centerville.
Georgia was born on August 29, 1937, in Centerville, daughter of Earl Raymond and Agnes Margaret (Robbins) Peel. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, William Earl McElroy, a partnership that brought six beloved children into the world, Sheryl, Cindy, Mark, Dorrie, Donna and William.
A devoted homemaker, Georgia took pride in creating a warm, welcoming home and in the joy of raising her family. Her life was filled with simple pleasures and cherished traditions. She enjoyed reading her Bible, shopping trips with her daughters and sisters, and working alongside her sister Sadie at Montgomery Ward. Sadie and Georgia were always close growing up, and remained just as close as best friends would throughout her life. Georgia had a zest for travel, especially her trips to Branson, and she treasured moments with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Georgia's warmth, humor, and dedication to family left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. She is remembered for her loving spirit, her laughter, and the countless ways she enriched the lives of those around her.
Details regarding memorial services will be shared with family, friends, and all who were touched by Georgia's life, to celebrate the legacy of a woman who lived fully and loved deeply.
Those left to cherish Georgia's memory are her children, Sheryl Fuller, Cindy Edwards (Herb Houf), Mark (Sharla) Stogdill, Dorrie (Ray) Printy, William (Debbie) McElroy Jr.; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; her sisters, Sadie Ruth, and Karen Radavich; as well as numerous extended family members.
Georgia was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" McElroy Sr.; her parents, Earl and Agnes Peel; her daughter, Donna Neel; and her brother, George Peel.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM, Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville. Burial will follow the service at Haines Cemetery, north of Centerville. Visitation will take place Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville, with the family greeting friends from 1:00PM-2:00PM.
