George A. Peel's Obituary
George Arthur Peel, age 84, of Centerville died Thursday, April 3, 2008 at the Centerville Nursing and Rehab after a long illness. He was born in Centerville, the son of Elijah and Dora (Green) Peel. He married Avis Meade on December 23, 1941. They were married in Unionville, Missouri.
He is survived by his wife, Avis and two children: a son George and wife Ruth, and daughter, Mary Scurlock and husband Tim. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Earl Peel and Lonnie Clark.
He worked at various jobs including, Hercules Foundry, Pillsbury and Iowa Southern Utilities from which he retired after 33 years of service. In the past George enjoyed fishing, hunting, fixing cars in his garage, and spending time with his family.
Graveside funeral services will be held Monday, April 7, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. at the Oakland Cemetery in Centerville with Pastor Brian Hargrave officiating. A visitation will be held Sunday from 1 PM until 8 PM at the Thomas Lange Funeral home with the family present from 6-8 PM that evening. A memorial has been established to the National Alzheimer's Association and may be left at or mailed to the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa 52544.
