George Mathew Pavlik's Obituary
George Mathew Pavlik, age 90, of Windsor Heights, Iowa, left this world Saturday, September 19, 2009, and entered the next where the steak is always sizzling, the fish are always biting and the game is always on. He was born the son of Michael and Susanna (Majersky) Pavlik on February 24, 1919 in Cherry, Illinois. He graduated from the Melrose Community School in Melrose, Iowa and was a proud member of the 1937 State Basketball Championship Team. Later, He would receive a Bachelors Degree from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa in 1948.He served his country during WWII in the North African Theater with the Army Air Corp 82nd Squadron, the 12th Bombers Group. On May 16, 1947, George was united in marriage to Virginia Erlene Houser. He was a long time State Auto Supervisor before following his entrepreneurial dreams. He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Des Moines. He left his loved ones with memories of his sense of humor and love for nature and the Iowa countryside.He is preceded in death by: his parents and two sisters.Happy for his release, but sad for the loss are: his wife, Virginia Erlene Pavlik of Windsor Heights, Iowa; daughters, Susan Loots and her husband, Alan of Clive, Iowa, Marcy Pavlik of Houston, Texas, Rebecca Heger and her husband, John of Indianapolis, Indiana and Melinda Youngren and her husband, Dave of Boone, Iowa; a brother, John Pavlik of Los Angeles, California; granddaughter, Natalie; grandsons, Alex, Jake, Drew, Loren, Max and Grant; as well as three great grandchildren.Graveside funeral services will be held on Monday, September 21, 2009 at 11 am at the Mt. Ararat Cemetery east of Centerville, Iowa with Fr. Dennis Schaab officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Ararat Cemetery.Memorials can be made to the American Heart Association, Wesley Adult Day Services or Kavanagh House and left at the funeral home.
