George McCloud's Obituary
George Kenneth McCloud, 45, of Mystic passed away on Friday, November 22, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. George was born on August 8, 1968 to Greg and Karen McCloud in Centerville, Iowa. After graduation from Centerville High School in 1986, George went to work for Wells Manufacturing, operating a fork lift. He worked his entire career at Wells until his health forced him to leave in 2012. George mowed yards throughout Appanoose County over the years. He was so proud of his John Deere mower and Chevy trucks. George was the kind of man who gave of himself and his time to help others. He loved his time with the Volunteer Fire Department in Mystic and helping on the board of Relay for Life. George enjoyed hunting, fishing and putting together puzzles with his grandmother, Adeline. He was a familiar face to many, whether you were at the Pale Moon, on the Centerville Square or the many town fire departments. George always welcomed you with a smile and a "Hey Ole Buddy"! Survivors include, mother, Karen Kratofil-King of Mystic, grandmother, Adeline Kratofil of Mystic, aunt, Sheila Hawk-Foster of Centerville, Iowa, five cousins: Kaysie (Dennis) McSweeney of Mystic, Justin Kratofil of Centerville, Sunny Kratofil-Dommer of Numa, Jake Kratofil of Centerville, Josh (Danielle) Kratofil of Mystic and a special friend Jamie Zaputil of Mystic. He was preceded in death by his father Greg McCloud, grandparents: George Kratofil, Cutty and Vancy Barbaglia, brother, Joe McCloud, and two uncles: Sonny and Mark Kratofil. A Celebration Gathering will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Thomas Funeral Home. County Fire Departments will host a Remembrance Service starting at 7:00 p.m. Inurnment will be in Oakland Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family which will be donated to organizations close to George's heart.
