George Krsnak's Obituary
George Krsnak, age 93, of Centerville, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2025 at Centerville Specialty Care.
George was born on June 17, 1931 in Wagner, South Dakota, the son of Joseph and Lucy (Petranek) Krsnak. He graduated from Wagner High School, where he fell in love with music. He furthered his education, graduating from the Yankton College Music Conservatory and the University of South Dakota Vermillion. George also joined the United States Army. He was stationed for a period of time in Germany, during the Korean War, and was also a trumpet player in the Army Band. He served his country faithfully, and was honorably discharged.
On July 7, 1952, George was united in marriage to Geraldine Nedved, and to this union two sons were born, David and Douglas.
George loved music throughout his life. It showed not only in high school, college, and the military, but also in his everyday life after. He taught music at Tabor, South Dakota, Havelock-Plover Iowa Schools, Holstein Iowa High School and Junior High, and finished his career at Howar Junior High in Centerville.
In his free time, George enjoyed playing his trumpet, and was in a polka band. He loved being outside, whether it was being an umpire at little league games, hunting, camping at Lake Rathbun, fishing or golfing.
Left to honor George's memory are his wife of over 72 years, Gerry Krsnak; his son, Doug; sister-in-law, June Kinder; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
George was preceded in death by his son, David Krsnak; his parents, Joseph and Lucy Krsnak; four brothers; six sisters; and many family members and friends.
