George B. Holladay's Obituary
George Holladay, age 80 of Centerville passed away Sunday, September 30, 2007 at Centerville Nursing and Rehab in Centerville.
George was born January 8, 1927, the son of Robert and Ina (Baggett) Holladay in Petry, Alabama. He married Cecilia Davis in Long Beach, California in 1971. She preceded him in death on February 10, 2005. George was a member of the Navy and served in World War II in the South Pacific. He spent many years in food service, including time as a chef in Alameda, California, as well as owning and operating the Barbeque Pit on the square in Centerville. George was also an owner of a tavern in Long Beach, California.
George is survived by two children, Robert Holladay of Atlanta, Georgia and Frank Holladay of Washington; three brothers, Bob, Ben, and Billy Holladay; six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Graveside services with military rites will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at the Dale Cemetery, north of Centerville with Pastor Howard Luscan officiating. An open visitation will be held Tuesday at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home from 8 AM to 5 PM. A memorial has been established to the family and may be left at or mailed to the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa 52544.
