Casey, Cory and Family We are all so sad. Sad for you and sad for ourselves. You don't get many friends in life like Bird and Sheila. This website says share a memory. There are just too many from which to choose. It seems like too many people in life are just afraid to be themselves, afraid to love other people, but not Bird. Bird called us one time from the Missouri State Fair. It was his first time going there instead of the Iowa State Fair - where we always spent good times together. He called Randy and asked, Where are all the PEOPLE Randy told him that the Missouri State Fair wasn't nearly as big as the Iowa State Fair. But, with the mules, Missouri was the place to be. We are thinking of you, praying for you and our hearts are breaking for you. I know Bird and Sheila are together and fine, but we're sure gonna miss 'em. Going to miss you bird didn't get to hang out often but you always made things lively and and always a bit of humorous wisdom went with it. Happy trails and easy riding. My prayers go to casey and corey. Posted by Ron Dobson - Albia, IA - Friend March 09, 2012

My deepest sympathy to the family of Sheila and Bird. Sheila was a wonderful person to work with!! She was always upbeat and smiling. We got to know Bird also when I stopped at the office and spent time working with Brenda and the girls. Great people to have known! They both will be deeply missed and our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Bird was one of a kind. Our hearts break for all his family and friends. I know that our lives were richer for having known him and Shelia. I will never forget their spirit, and love of life and of course mules. We wish to thank them both for sharing part of their lives with us. When I first arrived in Moravia to work for the schools Bird Ellison came forward to assist with an FFA trip. I was new to the community and wasn't sure of the correct procedures for this trip but Bird and his wife, Sheila stepped up and made the whole trip a smooth operation. I will not forget their kindness and their willingness to assist the young people of Moravia High School. Bird will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Posted by Graham F.
