Georald Dean West's Obituary
Georald Dean West, age 54 of Centerville, Iowa passed away Friday, May 01, 2015 at the Centerville Nursing and Rehab Center.
He was born February 17, 1961 in Centerville, Iowa, the son of Lonzo ""Bud"" and Dorothy (Morrow) West. Georald attended Centerville Schools. He married Patty Thomas in Centerville, Iowa on September 8, 1979 and to this union, four children were born, Misty, Shelly, Niky and Austin.
Upon his completion of school, Georald entered the construction field with a traveling contractor. He later made the transition to working at Jef-Scot Metals in Centerville. Georald dedicated twenty years with the company, retiring in 1999 due to health reasons. While at Jef-Scot Metals, he engaged in numerous work duties, including pouring metals, mold production and core machining.
Georald had a love for working outdoors. He never missed an opportunity to fulfill yard work duties around the house. Georald also spent much of his life fishing, a passion he enjoyed with many family and friends, especially his fishing buddy, Kelly Garr. He also enjoyed catching bait at night, as well as mushroom hunting. Georald was also a sports fan. He never missed the opportunity to cheer on the Iowa Hawkeye Football Team on the television, as well as the Dallas Cowboys. He also enjoyed watching professional wrestling on t.v..
He is survived by his wife, Patty West of Centerville, Iowa; four children, Misty Sprouse of Centerville, Shelly (Eric) Needels of Centerville, Niky (Brandi) West of Centerville and Austin West of Centerville; three grandchildren, Jacy Sprouse, Paris Sprouse and Dayton Dunham all of Centerville; four siblings, Jim West of Dayton, Iowa, Shelly (Dwayne) Brookhart of Centerville, Randy West of Centerville and Donnie West of Exline, Iowa; and a close friend, Kelly Garr of Centerville.
Georald was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Mike West.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville Pastor Gerald Campbell officiating. A visitation will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12 PM-2 PM. Cremation will follow the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made out to the family of Georald Dean West and may be left at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
