Gene Horn's Obituary
Gene Horn, 84 of Moulton, Iowa, passed away at his home on April 22, 2020. Lewis Eugene Horn was born to Earl and Mary Bell (Park) Horn on January 12, 1936 in Moulton, Iowa. He attended Ft. Scott Christian School and graduated in 1954. Gene was best known by the communities he served for his dedication to his work in local law enforcement. Through the years, Gene has served on both the Bloomfield and Centerville Police Departments, as well as a deputy in Davis and Appanoose Counties, Assistant Fire Chief in Moulton, as a member of the Moulton First Responders, 2nd in Command for Appanoose County Emergency Management, Appanoose County EMS Council, and he served as a board member on E-911 of Davis County. Gene has also been active on the Moulton City Council, he is a former member of Lions Club, and was involved in Appanoose County Heart Association. Gene was a family man and treasured spending time with those he loved. He was very faithful to God and his church. Gene was a member of Moulton United Methodist Church where he enjoyed attending church services and loved praising God through song. Left to remember Gene and the memories they shared with him are his son Daniel Horn (Christine), daughters Carol Horn, Frances Horn, and Kimberly Horn, and stepson Chris Brockman (Jill), his 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and numerous extended family. Gene is preceded in death by his wife, Janice Horn, and his stepdaughter, Denise Brockman. Private graveside service will be Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at Hardin Cemetery near Moulton. A visitation will be held all day Tuesday, at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville. Visitation will also take place on Wednesday morning until 12:00 pm at the funeral home in Centerville.
