Gaylord Main's Obituary
Gaylord R. Main, age 92, of Moravia, Iowa, died Thursday, January 10, 2013, at Westhaven Community in Boone, Iowa. He was born the son of Glen and Birdie (Brown) Main on April 19, 1920 near Main Station in Appanoose County. He graduated from the Moravia Community High School in Moravia, Iowa.On September 28, 1940, Gaylord was united in marriage to Marjorie Boyer in Albia, Iowa. He was a farmer in Appanoose County and a rural Mail Carrier for many years for Moravia and Unionville, Iowa. He was a member of the Unionville United Methodist Church in Unionville and Past President of the Moravia School Board.He was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Eugene Main and Herbert Main; sisters, Irene Fowler and Opal Van Dorin.Gaylord is survived by: his wife, Marjorie Main of Moravia, Iowa; a daughter, Mary Joanne Temple and her husband, Roger of Boone, Iowa; grandchildren, Bradley Temple and his wife, Meredith of Madison, Wisconsin, Kelli England and her husband, Shane of Boone, Iowa and Jonathan Temple and his wife, Kelsy of Dysart, Iowa; as well as six great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Monday, January 14, 2013 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Joan Ervin officiating. Burial will follow at the Unionville Cemetery in Unionville, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 13, 2013 from 2 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home with the family present from 6 till 8 pm.Memorials can be made to Unionville United Methodist Church and can be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
