Gary Tharp's Obituary
Gary Lee Tharp, 61, of Bloomfield passed away Friday, February 12, 2016 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. Gary was born to Pearl & Lucinda (Nevins) Tharp on March 8, 1954 in Centerville at St. Joseph's Hospital. He enjoyed listening to country music, shopping and the outdoors. When the weather turned warm, Gary enjoyed gardening and going for car rides. He resided at Optimae Life Services and was employed at first resources in Bloomfield. Survivors include four siblings: Donna Burns of Ottumwa, John Tharp (Betty) of Bloomfield, Jo Ann Clancy (William) of Largo, Florida, Shirley McNeish of Marengo, Iowa and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Bobby Tharp. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Thomas Funeral Home - 108 W. Poplar Street - Bloomfield, IA 52537 with Rev. Roger Marlow officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service from 1-2 p.m. Interment will be immediately following at Hardin Cemetery in Moulton. Memorials may be given to Gary Tharp's great-great niece "Prayers for Kenlie Burns" which may be left at or mailed to the funeral home and condolences may be shared at www.thomasfh.com.
