Gale L. Bellinger's Obituary
Gale L. Bellinger, age 74 of Centerville, Iowa passed away Saturday, December 31, 2016 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa.
He was born on August 26, 1942 in Kirksville, Missouri, the son of Lela (Martin) Brown. Gale was united in marriage to Jacolyn Swink on January 11, 1961 in Lancaster, Missouri and to this union of marriage, four children were born, Tammy, Allen, Patricia, and Greg.
Following high school graduation, Gale enlisted in the United States Air force. Stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War, Gale served his country faithfully from 1960 until his honorable discharge in 1963.
Following his military service, Gale accepted a job with Iowa Southern Utilites in Centerville. From a drafting position to a transmission construction supervisor, Gale was a dedicated employee of the company for thirty three years until his retirement.
Following his career with ISU, Gale accepted his calling to ministry. For over ten years Gale was an active minister for the Apostolic Catholic Orthodox Church.
In retirement Gale enjoyed his daily trips to Joe's Quick Shop in Centerville for conversation with his coffee drinking buddies.
Gale attended the Lighthouse Church of the Nazarene in Moravia.
He is survived by his three children, Tammy Bellinger of Des Moines, Iowa, Patricia (Jay) Howard of Berwick, Iowa, and Greg (Angela) Bellinger of Centerville; ten grandchildren, Genda Burns, Jessena Burns-Mejia, Dallas Knode, Cheyenne Knode, Jayson Howard, David Howard, Aaron Thomas, Jackie Howard, Siera Rummans, and Saydie Rummans; several great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews on his brother Larry's side of the family.
Gale was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jacolyn Bellinger in January of 1993; his son, Allen Bellinger; a grandson, Cody Bellinger; and a brother, Larry Bellinger.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the Lighthouse Church of the Nazarene in Moravia, Iowa with Pastor Terry Chapman officiating. Following the service, military rites will provided in the near future. Memorials have been established to either the Lighthouse Church of the Nazarene or to the Family of Gale Bellinger and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
