Freddie Guy Minear's Obituary
Freddie Guy Minear, 82, of Livonia, MO passed away at the Putnam County Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.
Fred was born April 23, 1943, in Centerville, Iowa, the only child of Guy and Ruth "Fowler" Minear. He was raised in the Glendale area, attended the Fowler School and graduated from Unionville High School in 1961. He attended the University of Missouri Columbia, where he was a member of the Alpha Gamma Sigma Fraternity and Ruf-Nex, graduating with a bachelor's degree in Agriculture Education.
On June 27, 1965, Fred was united in Marriage to June Rose "Noel". To this union one son was born, Brent Minear. Fred and June Rose farmed in the Glendale area, producing row crops, hay and raising cattle and hogs. Fred was a kind and caring man who was happiest on the farm, working hard and enjoying the outdoors. In his younger years, he showed and rode horses before transitioning to his trusted 4-wheeler. He loved to hunt, fish, and spend time outside.
Fred's goal was to set up his family for farming for many generations to come. He loved his grandsons, Brady and Drake, with all his heart. Some of his favorite moments were their time together on the farm; there wasn't a day that went by that they weren't thought of or talked about. Additionally, Fred was an avid Missouri Tiger fan and held football season tickets for 35 years. These seats remain in the family, now spanning four generations of Minear's and expanding from two seats to eight.
Fred enjoyed his afternoon nap after a wonderful lunch prepared by June. He served for 35 years on the Farmer's Bank Board, serving through 2 generations of the Tribble family, for whom he had the utmost respect. He also served on the Putnam County Soil and Water Conservation Board and the Putnam County Memorial Hospital Board for many years. He enjoyed being involved with the 4H and FFA youth, serving as the Jr Livestock Auction Chair for the Putnam County Fair.
Fred is survived by his wife of 60 years, June Rose Minear; his son, Brent (Margaret) Minear; his grandsons, Brady (Tassia) Minear and Drake (Kaylee) Minear; and his great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Graham and Colter Minear. He was preceded in death by his parents.
There will be private family graveside service for Fred with a Celebration of Life to be held soon. Kevin Collins will officiate. Pallbearers will be Robert Ray, Danny Hartwig, Johnnie Guy Minear, David Tribble, Tony Hatfield, and Tim Fernandez. Honorary Pallbearers will be Susie Poland and Bobby K Jones.
Memorials in Fred's honor may be given to the Putnam County FFA and entrusted to Thomas Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
