Franklin Junior Hampton's Obituary
Franklin Junior Hampton, son of Frank and Maxcine J. (Smith) Hampton was born January 16, 1936 in Decatur County, Iowa and passed away at the Wayne County Hospital in Corydon on May 31, 2011 at the age of 75 years, 4 months, and 15 days. On May 20, 1955 Frank was united in marriage to Twila J. Trumper. Four children were born to this union: Becky, Kevin, Ronda and Kyle. Twila preceded him in death on May 14, 1997. He later married Patricia Brown on November 17, 2000. She preceded him in death on March 8, 2001. Frank lived his entire life in southern Iowa where he was employed as a mechanic by Thatcher Implement for many years and even after he left Thatcher's area farmers would ask his advice when they had a problem with their machinery and he was always willing to lend a helping hand. In later years he drove a school bus and worked at the bus barn as a mechanic for the Wayne Community School and most recently he worked at the Chariton School bus barn. During the farming season Frank had a hay baling business. He said his hobbies were tractors, farming and being a mechanic. Frank was a past member of the Wayne County Fair Board. He enjoyed playing cards with his friends, but his greatest joy was his family and especially his grandchildren. His parents Frank Hampton and Maxcine Alley, brother Dennis, granddaughter Heather, and spouses Twila and Pat Hampton preceded him in death. Frank is survived by his children Becky Burns, Chariton, Kevin Hampton (Karen), Liberty, Missouri, Ronda Fee, Chariton, and Kyle Hampton, Corydon, grandchildren Steven Shotwell, Lombard, Illinois, Johnathan and Chesirae Burns both of Chariton, Spencer Luebbert, Boston, Massachusetts, T. C. Hampton, Chariton, Jennifer Luebbert, Liberty, Missouri, Allison Schrodt, Osceola, Franklin Joseph Hampton, Cedar Falls, Jacob Hampton, Liberty, Missouri, Brandon Fee, Chariton and Karna and Twila "Peetie" Hampton, both of Corydon, companion Dixie Small of Corydon, and Dixie's children Regan Small and children of Preston, Jeff Small and children of Miles and Candice Dague of Maquoketa. Other survivors include his siblings Guy Hampton (Jeannine), Leon, Robert Hampton, Decatur City, Mary Williams (Wayne), Apache Junction, Arizona, Dorothy Ostrander, Florida, Stephen Hampton (Diane), Culbertson, Montana, Joyce Shackleford (Bill) of Des Moines, John Hampton (Sandra), Chariton, Ralph Hampton, Mount Ayr, sister-in-law Sandy McMurry of Grinnell, six great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
