Frank L. Mcveigh's Obituary
Frank L. McVeigh, age 84 of Centerville, Iowa, died January 18, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville, Iowa.
Frank was born July 24, 1923, the son of Emmit and Mary (Lewis) McVeigh in Sacramento, California. Frank married Twilah Hunt on May 9, 1942 in Unionville, Missouri. He worked for Valley Construction out of Rock Island, Illinois and L&W drilling dynamite. He enjoyed gardening and farming. He was a member of the American Legion holding the post of Vice Commander, and the Mystic Christian Church.
Frank is survived by his wife Twilah McVeigh of Mystic, Iowa; four children, Frances Ashby of Mystic, Iowa, David (Betty) McVeigh of Numa, Iowa, Kathy (Laurel) Varner of Mystic, Iowa, and Roger (Fran) McVeigh of Unionville, Iowa; sixteen grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; thirty three great grandchildren; one step- great grandchild; and six great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Neoma Horstman; brothers, Harry, John, and Bob McVeigh; a daughter, Carol Barrell; grandsons, Johnny and Frankie McVeigh; great grandson, Avery Martin; and a grandson-in-law, John Martin.
Funeral services will be held 10 AM, Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Pastor Holly Oden officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery in Mystic, Iowa. A visitation will be held Monday with family present from 5-7 PM at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to the Mystic American Legion or Highland Cemetery Association and may be left at or mailed to the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa 52544.
