Frank Grenko's Obituary
Frank 'Frankie' W. Grenko, age 78 of Davenport, Iowa, formerly of Cincinnati, passed away of natural causes on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at his home.
Frankie was born on June 14, 1938 in Centerville, Iowa, the son of Frank and Minnie (Buban) Grenko Sr.. He graduated from Cincinnati High School. Frankie was united in marriage to Linda Scurlock on January 16, 1965 in Centerville, Iowa. The couple recently celebrated fifty one years of marriage.
Following high school graduation, Frankie was employed with Baxter Box in Centerville for many years. He also worked for the Fuller Foundry in Centerville for a brief period of time. It was during this time in his life that Frankie was an active caretaker of the Oakland Cemetery in Centerville.
Following Frankie and Linda's relocation to Davenport, he became a dedicated employee of the Tilley Ladder Company, a position he held for nearly twenty five years until its closing.
Frankie subsequently accepted a position working for XPAC in Milan, Illinois. He retired from the company following nearly twenty years of employment.
Frankie was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Moreover, he possessed a love for the game of baseball in general. Frankie made sure that whenever he took his wife, Linda on a vacation, their excursion would include a trip to the local major league baseball field. In his younger years he enjoyed playing pool.
While a resident of Centerville, Frankie was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church. As a resident of Davenport, he became a member of the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.
Frankie is survived by his wife, Linda (Scurlock) Grenko of Davenport, Iowa; five cousins; and thirteen in-laws. He was preceded in death by his parents; several aunts and uncles; as well as numerous cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM, Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Father Bill Hubmann officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery, Centerville. A visitation will take place on Tuesday, December 27 at Lange Funeral Home, with the family greeting friends from 1:30-2:30 PM.
