Frank A Belzer's Obituary
Frank "Frankie" Anthony Belzer, age 75, of Mystic, passed away Monday, May 1, 2023 at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines.
Frankie was born on December 16, 1947 in Centerville, Iowa, the son of Dwight and Jennie (Paul) Belzer. On November 27, 1965, he was united in marriage to Judy Kaye Showers, and to this union, three children were born, Judith, Joni and Julie.
In his earlier years, Frankie worked construction, and helped build Rathbun Lake. He accepted a position at Young Radiator and worked there for 23 years. He continued working construction, doing odd jobs throughout his life. For a period of time, he was the Mayor of Mystic- which he thoroughly enjoyed. Frankie also drove a shuttle bus for Rathbun Marina for a summer.
In his free time, Frankie enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and sitting on the front porch. He loved riding motorcycles. His greatest gift, was the "gift of gab". He could tell a story to anyone. Most importantly, Frankie cherished every moment he spent with his loved ones.
Left to honor Frankie's memory are his children, Judith (Dean) Ruegg of Troy, MO, Joni Belzer of Mystic, and Julie Sheets of Moravia; his loving companion, Nancy Hinton; four grandchildren, Jennifer Cvikel (Brice Powers), Frankie Martin (Tanner Cole), Walter (Chenoa) Ruegg, and Kennedy Weishaar; three great grandchildren, Carson Cole, Elijah Ruegg and Elena Ruegg; a sister, Sherry Belzer of Centerville; as well as several extended family and friends.
Frankie was preceded in death by his parents, Dwight and Jennie Belzer; and his wife, Judy Belzer.
Per Frankie's wishes, cremation has been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, May 6, 2023 at the Mystic Community Church with Pastor Holly Oden officiating. A luncheon for Frankie's family and friends will take place after the service. A private family burial will take place at Elgin Cemetery in Mystic.
