Francis B. Vidmar's Obituary
Francis Vidmar, age 80, of Centerville, Iowa passed away Thursday, April 02, 2009 at the Golden Age Care Center in Centerville, Iowa.
Francis was born June 20, 1928, the son of Joseph and Katherine (Thomas) Vidmar in Centerville, Iowa. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed the craft of woodworking. In his spare time he crafted many statues of the Blessed Mother Mary and Saint Francis. He also enjoyed piloting his Cesna 140 airplane. Francis also served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville, Iowa.
He is survived by his three brothers and a sister, William (Pauline) Vidmar of East Moline, Illinois, John Vidmar of Centerville, Iowa, Leonard (Dixie) Vidmar of Urbandale, Iowa and Teresa (Francis) Jackovich of Davenport, Iowa; nieces and nephews, Michael (Bobbi) Vidmar of Davenport, Iowa, Kathy (Steve) Johnson of Port Byron, Illinois, Richard Vidmar of East Moline, Illinois, Robert Vidmar of Silvis, Illinois, Christina Vidmar of Silvis, Illinois, Carolyn (Greg) Eriskson of Denver Colorado, Steve Jackovich of Bettendorf, Iowa, Vince (Denise) Jackovich of Eldridge, Iowa, Dennis Jackovich of Bettendorf, Iowa, Lisa (Jim) Williams of Chandler, Arizona, Chris (Lynn) Vidmar of Johnston, Iowa, and Kimberly (Paul) Walker of Norwalk, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Charles Vidmar.
Mass of Resurrection will be held 11 AM, Saturday, April 4, 2009 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville, Iowa with Father Dennis Schaab C.PP.S officiating. Burial will follow at the Oakland Cemetery in Centerville, Iowa. The family will gather Friday at the Lange Funeral Home from 7-8PM with a Rosary Service at 7pm. A memorial has been established to the St. Mary's Catholic Church and may be left at or mailed to the Lange Funeral Home 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa 52544.
