Frances Dooley's Obituary
Frances Dooley, 98, of Centerville passed away Monday, November 14, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville. Frances was born to Floyd & Dessie (Main) Dykes on April 1, 1918 in Rathbun, Iowa. She graduated from Centerville High School in 1935. Frances was united in marriage to Ray Dooley on September 27, 1941. To this union were two children, Rosemary and Eddie. Frances taught school for 44 years beginning in a one room school house and retiring from Lincoln Elementary. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Centerville, Appanoose County Retired Teachers Association and Delta Kappa Gamma. Frances loved being a teacher and loved each student she had the pleasure to educate. She also enjoyed walking/exercising with friends and spent many mornings at Hardees drinking coffee with her friends. Of all things, family came first to Frances and gave her the most joy. Survivors include son, Eddie Dooley of Aledo, Illinois, four grandchildren; Steve Mihalovich of Moravia, Jan Cowan (David) of Cincinnati, Iowa, Logan Sexton (Kyle) of Asheville, North Carolina, Chase Dooley (Caryssa) of Roscoe, Illinois, five great grandchildren; Zac Cowan of Centerville, Zeth Cowan of Cincinnati, Kailyn Dooley of Roscoe, Illinois, Kira Dooley of Roscoe, Illinois, Odessa Sexton of Asheville, North Carolina, two siblings; Deyolene Shanahan of Centerville, Dick Dykes of Crossville, Tennessee and a son-in-law, Paul Mihalovich of Moravia. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ray Dooley, daughter, Rosemary Mihalovich, sister, Hilda Walter and brother, Jack Dykes. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 18, 2016 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Lloyd Johnston officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Haines Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-7 p.m., Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Thomas Funeral Home with the family present from 5-7 p.m. Memorials may be given to Lincoln Elementary PTO or First Baptist Church and condolences may be shared at www.thomasfh.com.
