Frances J. Benson's Obituary
Frances Benson, age 89, of Centerville, Iowa died Wednesday, November 03, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville, Iowa.
Frances was born June 23, 1921 the daughter of John and Angeline (Maletta) Mitchell at Rathbun, Iowa. She married Franklin E. Benson May 26, 1943 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Centerville. She graduated from Rathbun High School in 1939 and from Centerville Jr. College in 1941. She taught school in both the Rathbun and Centerville School systems and substituted at St. Mary's Catholic School.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Mary's Ladies Diocesan Women's Group, the Centerville Women's Club, and the Historical Society.
Surviving are a son Donald Benson and his wife Barbara of Waverly, Iowa, and a daughter Connie Rees and her husband John of Des Moines, IA; 4 grandchildren Michael Benson of San Francisco, CA, Laura (Chris) Tjebkeb of Waverly, Sherry (Todd) Jansen of Ankeny, IA, and Jonathon Rees and his fiancee Kylie Caster of Des Moines; 6 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank, parents and a brother Roy Mitchell.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be held Saturday 10:30 am, November 6, 2010 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Fr. Dennis Schaab C.PP.S. officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Friday evening at the Lange Funeral Home, Centerville. Burial will be the Oakland Cemetery, Centerville. A memorial has been established to Long Term Care, Mercy Medical Center, Centerville or St. Mary's Catholic Church, Centerville. Condolences may be left at www.langefh.com
