Forrest "Frosty" Bain's Obituary
Forrest 'Frosty' LaVerne Bain passed away Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the age of 76 at his home in Moulton, Iowa. Forrest was born to LaVerne and LaVelle (Howk) Bain on March 25, 1941 in Centerville. He joined the Army in 1960 training in Fort Benning, GA and later stationed in Germany as a paratrooper and working with helicopters. After the army, he started his railroad career with the Wabash later becoming Norfolk and Western and Norfolk Southern. He retired after 20 plus years as a conductor. He was united in marriage to Mary Jane (Howard) August 1, 1964. To this Union came two children, Anne and Linda. He also owned a bar in Moulton, Iowa called Frosty's. Frosty was a member of the Mason's and joined the KAABA Shriners unit in 1980 and later became a member of the Jesters Shrine unit. He enjoyed parading with the Shriners for 30 years as a RoadRunner and the Ragtop unit. Frosty enjoyed meeting people. He never knew a stranger and you always knew where he was from his laugh. He enjoyed collecting cars and traveling along with wintering South in Florida in his motor home. Survivors include his children, Anne Exline (Rick) and Linda Lou White. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Ryan Exline and Victoria White; a significant other, Charlotte Pitman; a sister, Pamela Toronto and other extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Jane Bain and a sister, Crystal McCauley. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Thomas Funeral Home in Moulton, Iowa with Rev. Jerry Weller officiating the service. Interment will follow at Sunset View Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 - 7 p.m. with a Masonic service beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Thomas Funeral Home in Moulton, Iowa with the family present from 5 - 7 p.m. Memorials may be given to HCI-Hospice and condolences may be shared at www.thomasfh.com.
