Forest Mericle's Obituary
Forest Mericle Jr., age 72 of Centerville, Iowa passed away Monday, June 01, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
Forest was born May 14, 1937, the son of Forest and Leota (Foster) Mericle in Darby, Iowa. He married Nancy Nilsson on July 14, 1960 at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Centerville, Iowa. Forest served in the US Army from 1960-1962. He worked as a self employed carpenter. Forest enjoyed going on trips with the 18-80 Club, watching Nascar and spending time with family.
Forest is survived by his wife, Nancy of Centerville, Iowa; two daughters, Linda (Todd) Arnold of Warrenton, Missouri and Julie (Geoff) Cowan of Cincinnati, Iowa; five grandchildren, Nicole, Brett, Joel, Gabe, and Hannah; two brothers, Trenton Mericle of Chandler, Arizona, and Dwight (Shirley) Mericle of Walcott, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Garnett Brown, Doyle Mericle, Carl Mericle, Ralph Mericle, Doris Stevens, Lois Jacobs, and Paul Mericle.
Funeral services will be held 3:30 PM, Thursday, June 4, 2009 at the Lange Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Jim Senior officiating. Burial will follow at the Oakland Cemetery in Centerville, Iowa. A visitation will be held Thursday at the funeral home with family present from 2-3:30 PM. A memorial has been established to the American Lung Association and may be left at or mailed to the Lange Funeral Home 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa 52544.
