Floyd Ross' Obituary
Floyd ""Toad"" Ross, age 88, died Saturday June 24, 2006 at the VA Knoxville Hospital, Knoxville, Iowa.
Floyd was born July 26, 1917, the son of Williard and Lottie (Worley) Ross in Cincinnati, Iowa. He married Helen Marshall and to this union, two sons were born, James and Donald Ross. Floyd and Helen were later divorced. He was a veteran of World War II and served in North Africa and Italy for six years. Floyd worked at National Lock Company in Rockford, Illinois and retired from there in 1975. Floyd then moved back to Cincinnati, Iowa. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and visiting with old friends.
Floyd is survived by two sons, James Ross and his wife Deanna of Loves Park, Illinois, and Donald Ross and his wife Linda of Roscoe, Illinois; a step-son Gene Beer and his wife Faye of Rockford, Illinois; four grandchildren, Tonya Penington and her husband Brian of Madison, Wisconsin, Jason Ross of Madison, Wisconsin, Storm and Mace Ross of Roscoe, Illinois; and two brothers, Cecil Ross and his wife Mary of Davenport, Iowa and Loren Ross and his wife Helen of Centerville, Iowa. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Mabel Sparks; a brother Elvin Ross, and a step-daughter Penny Christianson.
Funeral services will be held 5:00 PM, Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home with Pastor Donnel Logsdon officiating. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Cincinnati, Iowa. A visitation will be held Wednesday with the family present from 4-5 PM at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home. A memorial has been established to the Cincinnati First Responders and may be left at or mailed to the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S.18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
