Fern Meeker's Obituary
Lillian Fern Meeker, 92 of Kirksville and formerly of Moulton passed away Friday, September 27, 2019 at the Arbors @ Highland Crest in Kirksville. Fern was born to Dewey & Nellie (Olmstead) Selvy on February 23, 1927 in Dean, Iowa. On September 30th in Troy Kansas, Fern was united in marriage to Harold Meeker. Fern was the epitome of a farm wife. After her husband's passing in 1984 she continued to run the farm and the feed business. She enjoyed raising her cattle and chickens, along with riding horses, gardening, cooking, canning and feeding her family. Survivors include her daughter, Judy Piatt (Terry), step-daughter Barb Cragg, grandchildren, Amy Love (Roy), Emily Johnson (Boyd), Cheryl Cragg, Kevin Cragg (Karen), Michele Cragg, Randy Cragg (Karen), Tim Cragg, Pam Robinson (Leonard), Vicky Witt, and Michael Meeker (Tracey), thirteen great grandchildren, fourteen great-great grandchildren, one sister, Linda Wemhoff (Meryl), a brother-in-law, Dean Lewin, sister-in-law, Wandah Selvy, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, siblings: Gordon, Mary, Wanda, Alma Ruth, Lowell, Lois, Wayne, Robert, and one step-son, Ivan Meeker. Funeral service will be 6:30 pm, Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at Thomas Funeral Home - 501 N. 18th Street - Centerville, Iowa 52544 with Kay Singley officiating. Visitation will be from 5-6:30 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be the following day in Sunset View Cemetery at 10:30am.
