Faye Huffine's Obituary
Faye Lucille (Horner) Huffine was born December 4, 1920 south of Harvard, Iowa, daughter of Samuel Landon and Anna Florence (Hammond) Horner. She passed away at the Newton Care Center on May 18, 2017. She lived in Sewal, Iowa the majority of her life and was a graduate of Sewal High School. She worked, owned and operated a grocery store in Sewal along with her husband, Berns for a number of years. She also worked as school secretary in the Sewal elementary building for Seymour Community School for several years. Faye was united in marriage to Berns E. Huffine, on September 23, 1939 at Trenton, Missouri, and to this union four children were born. In retirement, she enjoyed traveling with Berns and various friends. She was a member of the Sewal United Methodist Church, Sewal Ladies Aid, and Sewal Sirkle Club. Faye and her husband were avid cribbage players and won several times at different tournaments. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and one brother, husband, Berns, daughter, Marianna Bennett, a son-in-law, a grandson and a great grandson. Faye is survived by three of her children; Judy Wilson of Newton, Dennis (Sherry) Huffine of Papillion, NE, and Jerry (Mary) Huffine of Des Moines, son-in-law, Larry Bennett of Runnells, ten grandchildren: Debbie (Joel) Etherton of Melbourne, FL, Sharon Nerison of Des Moines, Lynn (Matt) Johnson of Clive, Brad (Carissa) Bennett of Dodge Center, MN, Shelly (Jay) Frohrip of Duluth, MN, Amy Patters of Waukee, Patrick Huffine of Portland, OR, Jason Huffine of Oakland, CA, Todd Huffine of Urbandale, Lance (Amara) Huffine of West Des Moines, ten great-grandchildren: James and Sarah Etherton, Geoffrey (Rachel) Nerison, Jessica (Austin) Henchal, Zachery, Meredith, and Isaac Johnson, Bryce Bennett, Abigail and Alex Patters and one great-great-granddaughter, Ellie Henchal. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Corydon United Methodist Church, with Pastor Diane Olson Schroeder officiating. Interment immediately following service at Shriver Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service from 10-11:00 a.m. at the Corydon United Methodist Church.
