Faye Marie Cross' Obituary
Faye Marie Cross, age 89, of Centerville, Iowa, died Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville, Iowa. She was born the daughter of William and Jennie (Sulser) Phelps on February 12, 1921 in Centerville, Iowa. Faye attended the Appanoose County School near Centerville.On March 8, 1958 she was united in marriage to Henry 'Orvie' Cross in Plano, Iowa. Faye was a member of the Plano Christian Church, the Plano Wednesday Club, D.D. club and also Sara's Circle. She enjoyed quilting, attending church and helping her husband on their farm.Faye is preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Henry Cross on May 22, 1994; brother, William Phelps, Jr.; and sister, Delores Scott.She is survived by: step daughters, Ulon Carlson of Glenwood, Iowa, and Evon Kinzler of Unionville, Missouri; sisters, Mary Dixon of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Ruth Miller of Ankeny, Iowa, Edna Garr of Newton, Iowa, and Sarah Jane Exline of Cincinnati, Iowa.Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at 10:00 am with the Rev. David Welch officiating at the Plano Christian Church in Plano, Iowa. Burial will follow in the Philadelphia Cemetery in Plano, Iowa. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa from 1:00 pm till 8:00 pm with the family present between 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. A memorial has been established to Quilting Club or Plano Christian Church and can be mailed to or left at the funeral home.
